How does an engagment session turn into a "We Got Married!" announcement with the cutest puppy ever? It was a surprise to us too! Most of the time as wedding and engagement photographers, WE are the ones who are in on the surprises, but not this time!
Shauna and Jordan are planning on a destination wedding and included an adventure session for their engagement photos in their photography package! (View more adventures here!)We had actually rescheduled their session because a few weeks earlier, Jordan ended up with a terrible concussion. We stayed in touch and when he was feeling up for it, we rescheduled. We packed up our gear, tarps for a changing area, and hot chocolate to warm up with after the session and drove to Crescent Falls. We were so excited to meet Shauna and Jordan in person and celebrate their engagement.
As we were exchanging hello's, gathering our things, exploring the area, and talking through the session, Shauna casually says "Oh, I don't know if I told you. We got married."
Wait... what? Wasn't there a destination wedding planned?
Yup. And there still is. But it's going to be a different kind of celebration!
(Enter the romance story you usually only read about in books or see in Hallmark movies...it like, actually happened!)
As he recovered from his concussion, Jordan realized that tomorrow is never guaranteed and decided he didn't want to wait any longer to marry Shauna.
They met their mothers at the courthouse and before they knew it were exchanging vows, saying "I Do" and cherishing the unexpected but perfect wedding day.
At the falls, they showed us an announcement sign they wanted to use with their pup, Wally (in a bowtie!), to share the news with friends and family. Wally was the perfect little model!
This engagment / adventure / 'we got married!' announcement session was so epic! It is so worth the drive and enduring the cold spray of the waterfall! In the moment you might be freezing cold (just being honest haha), but it will be one of those stories you tell forever! That's what an adventure is.
