Back in September of 2018, we had the honor of capturing Bethany and Dan’s beautiful day at Avon Century Barn in Upstate NY. It was a day FULL of love; from their friends and family that traveled near and far to see them tie the knot, and their unshakeable love for one another. From the first look to the first dance and every moment in between, it was a day they (and we) will never soon forget! Read on to hear more from Bethany & Dan about their vendors and favorite memories!
Q: Where did you find your dress?
A: "After being disappointed at my experience with the first dress shop I visited, I went to Heart to Heart Bride in Webster (@hearttoheartbride). The atmosphere is just so intimate and personalized. I never felt like I was just another sale. They really cared about me finding my dream dress and never pressured me into anything! I even brought them my dress a few days before the wedding and they steamed it for me."
Q: Did you have a planner / coordinator for your day?
A: “Yes, Jason of J. Ford Designs (@j.forddesigns)! He was so on top of everything from the first time we spoke. He kept me on track throughout the entire planning process and gave me such great ideas. He suggested so many things that I hadn't even thought of. As for the day of, he did all of my centerpieces and flowers for the aisle - and they were stunning! He kept our entire day on track and I didn't have to worry about a thing! My whole day was stress-free! To anyone thinking about a day of coordinator - I highly recommend it! Jason was worth every penny!"
Q: What was your favorite part of the day?
A: "The first look. The first look was one of the few points throughout the day where it was really just the two of us. It was amazing to have that alone time right before the ceremony."
Q: Who did your floral design?
A: “For the Love of Flowers (@forhteloveofflowersbyjanelle). Janelle is so sweet and such a pleasure to work with. She literally got exactly what we wanted. She even delivered the flowers to the venue and made sure everyone was pinned before she left."
Q: Tell us about your venue!
A: "From the minute we toured Avon Century Barn (@avoncenturybarn) we fell in love with the place - we booked it that day! The barn is absolutely beautiful and exactly what we were looking for. The owners, Melissa and Sandy, were so great to work with. They answered all my questions the same day, they let me come back with my family to tour it again, and they even let us come and practice our first dance a few weeks before the wedding. Sandy was there the whole wedding day making sure we had everything we needed. Her and her staff were so great - even directing parking and driving our guests around in golf carts!"
Q: Who was your videographer?
A: "Julia Hart (@juliahart__)! Julia and her husband Raleigh are such a great team. They captured everything so perfectly - and it was so effortless working with them! They even did a drone shot of our venue! They posted a short video of our wedding on Facebook the night of the wedding (!!!), which I was not expecting at all! When we got the actual footage just weeks later, it exceeded our expectations. I cannot even tell you how many times I have watched it over the last 2 years."
Q: What is a meaningful memory from your Wedding Day?
A: "During our ceremony, we did a ring blessing with our parents. That is something we had never seen done before at a wedding, and it meant a lot to include our parents in our ceremony with us."
Q: Tell us about your food and drinks!
A: “At the time with Avon Century Barn, we were required to use Partyman Catering (@partymancatering_ny). We were a little hesitant about the lack of an option, but I really think we would have chosen them anyway! They were so on top of everything throughout the whole process. And not to mention, their food was amazing! People are still talking about their smashed potatoes!!"
Q: What was something that surprised you?
A: "Everyone always tells you that your wedding day goes by fast - they aren't joking!"
Q: Is there a particular photo (or photos) that stand out to you as particularly special from your day?
A: "It is so hard to choose! But I guess I would say photos from our first look and the pictures at sunset of us in the cornfield dancing."
Q: What was the first dance like?
A: “We ended up choosing to do a choreographed dance and took classes with Hold My Hand Dance Management (@holdmyhanddancemanagement). Tiffany and Johan are just the sweetest people and so good at what they do! They were able to teach us a beautiful waltz in only like 10 classes! We kept it a surprise from our guests and everyone was shocked, considering my husband has never danced before! Take a look at their YouTube page - they are amazing!"
Q: What was your entertainment like for the night?
A: “Encore Events (@encoreevents) DJed our wedding and we had a photobooth! Ray was our DJ and he was absolutely fantastic! He was there early to set up all of the sound for the ceremony. Even with traffic going by, all of our guests were able to hear our vows. The music flowed seamlessly from the time guests started arriving until the very end of the night. He had the dance floor packed!! Such great variety. He checked on us throughout the night just to make sure we were happy and keep us on schedule. The photobooth was also a major hit!! The pictures are great!"
Q: What exciting things does the future hold for you two?
A: "We just bought 6.5 acres and are getting ready to start building our dream home for our future family."
We can’t wait to see Bethany and Dan's sweet family grow and all of the adventures ahead for them! A big THANK YOU to them for sharing about their beautiful day - we love revisiting it just as much as they do :)
