What’s a “Tiny Newborn”, Helen? Aren’t all newborns relatively tiny? Yeah, yeah… they are! Tiny Newborn is just what I call my newborn mini sessions. Yes, mini session!
Most know that newborn sessions take a while. On a good day, they can take 2 hours and on a hard day they might take me more like 3.5 or 4 hours (those are rare, thankfully). So how do you make it more “mini” in length? You keep that baby snug and wrapped the whole time! By doing that, I can work through a lovely flow of poses, wrap colors, backdrop options, and even props…. in one hour flat. Sounds like a dream to busy, tired parents, doesn’t it?
This little nugget came to my south Kansas City studio at 16 days old, and I am so thrilled with how her session turned out! Spoiler alert…. her parents were thrilled too! {wink}
Tiny Newborn sessions are typically baby only, but sometimes the sibling is just the right age and temperament (known from previous experience working with them) and I can do a small add-on fee to do one sibling pose as part of the session. Sweet big sis here? I met her when she was a super tiny preemie in the NICU a few years ago!
There you have it, a glimpse into just how gorgeous and versitile my new Tiny Newborn sessions are! These aren’t even all the portraits that were in the family’s final gallery. You can read more about Tiny Newborn sessions on my newborn info page.
One last perk of the Tiny Newborn sessions - these are truly perfect for those times you forgot to book a photographer, looked down at your baby, and suddeny realized they were already a month old and changing so fast! I’ve done these sessions on babies only 10 days old and babies that are already 7 weeks old - they all turn out beautifully.
