This early January cold has me missing the warmth and glow of the sun, and I think blogging about Amanda and Kelsey’s late summer engagement session is the perfect way to remember the warmer weather!

Since they both wanted an outdoor location with lots of color, Kelsey suggested the Waupun Park Maple Forest State Natual Area. It’s such a gorgeous forested place, and I was so excited to find a spot in Wisconsin not far from Oshkosh that reminded me so much of the mountains back home. We had hoped for some gorgeous fall foliage, but were just a big too early for any of the color changes. Still, the greenery made for an excellent backdrop! What you can’t tell from the photos is we were constantly being accosted by mosquitoes, worse than I had ever seen in my life! We managed to push through the swarms, though, and the laughs made the engagement session even better.

The color was red! Amanda’s dress and jean jacket and Kelsey’s red plaid shirt and jeans made such an ADORABLE combination for coordinated outfits. I was enamored with the contrast in the greenery. I mean, just look at how much they pop!

There’s a bridge at the park that made for a great location to stand on. Smoke on the horizen set the sky alight and gave us an absolutely beautiful orange and red sun that peeked through the leaves behind them. I couldn’t have asked for a better Golden Hour!

We finished up our session on Lake Winnebago in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. We didn’t have enough light to get the lighthouse, but we managed to get a couple of gorgeous shots on the rocks.

I can’t wait to see what the wedding looks like for these gorgeous ladies!
