A beautiful spring wedding at their family church, Howard-Miami Mennonite Church in Kokomo, Indiana, proceeding with an awe-inspiring first look moment under a beautifully blooming tree, then walking down the aisle surrounded by some of their closest friends and family before ending the night with good food made by family, tear-jerking speeches, the best company, and the signing of their marriage certificate to finally make it all official—this was Brooke & Alan's special day.
During their engagement session earlier this year we were able to get to know Brooke & Alan a bit more. They shared their love story with us--Brooke started by telling me about how they were set up together. She said, “We were set up by a mutual friend just this last July. We went on our first date in August! We went to a Mexican restaurant then on a walk on a trail through a golf course in Rochester.” And she went on to quote “when you know you know!” which Trevor and I both believe is definitely true. Sometimes true love just falls right in front of you without even expecting it and when that happens there’s a way that you know—when you know you just know.
I met them for their engagement session right before the snow started to melt at the Tippecanoe River State Park just outside of Winamac, Indiana. It was the best day—the sun shining, the brisk cold starting to lift, and the white snow glistening in every photo. They were troupers too as we pretended to be warm, walked down trails that had not been shoveled, and laughed it off as we all got snow in our shoes. I couldn’t have asked for a better session with Brooke & Alan. To see their engagement photos and read more about their love story, click here.
An early spring wedding was such a perfect time for these two to get married. They planned a rustic and natural theme with colors like iris, light grey, and a little bit of navy blue. Although they may not have necesary planned for the amazing blooms on the trees, they did match perfectly with their theme and we used the colors for many amazing pictures. We photographed their special day at their family church, Howard-Miami Mennonite Church in Kokomo, Indiana just a few short months after their February engagement.
Brooke started the day with hair and make-up while Alan enjoyed a morning with his boys. Once all of the ladies were dolled up and ready, Brooke put on her stunning mermaid style dress with the help of her mother. Final touches by her maid-of-honor and soon-to-be sister-in-law made sure that Brooke looked her best before her first look with Alan. Alan also got ready during this time with the help of his father, mother, and best-man/brother.
Brooke & Alan then met outside for an awe-inspiring first look moment under a beautifully blooming tree. While Brooke approached, Alan stood shaking with excitement to see his beautiful bride. Once turned around they were finally able to hug and share a few light kisses before their busy wedding day began. If you’re not familiar with what a First Look is—it’s a chance for you and your husband to see each other before your official wedding ceremony! It’s that magical moment when your soon-to-be husband first sets eyes on you, the beloved bride, and both your emotions come rushing out. I talked about the pros and cons of a First Look on a previous blog post, and we’ve also shared all about why we, as photographers and videographers, recommend that you should do a First Look.
Their ceremony began with family and friends seated to witness the coming together of Brooke & Alan. They said their vows, participated in a sand ceremony, listened to special words by members of their church, and finally sealed the ceremony with a kiss. Directly following, Brooke & Alan were introduced into their reception where they ate delicious food prepared for them by family. They then listened to tear-jerking speaches given by their best-man and maid-of-honor.
Brooke & Alan, we are so glad that you entrusted LVP Studios to capture your wedding day with photo. It was such a beautiful wedding day, and I am so very thankful that I got to be a part of memorializing your love for one another. We truly enjoyed being your wedding photographer. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Mast! We hope you love these photos from your wedding.
