Allison and Mike go way back, well…sort of. They went to school together growing up but were never really close. It wasn’t until Mike moved back to State College from Denver, Colorado in 2017 that the two of them re-met and got to talking. Like every great story – it all started at a bar.
They both grew up in Boalsburg and still live in the area today, so their goal was to find a gorgeous location close to home. Mike had seen the beautiful property before and thought it would make for a spectacular wedding venue for him and Allison. They both loved that the natural beauty of the outdoors was highlighted as the primary focus.
On the morning of the wedding, the groomsmen gathered at Allison and Mike’s house to get ready and hang out with their two black labs. The bridesmaids all met at the bride's parents’ house. Allison was relaxed and excited, sipping on bubbly with her girls while they all got pampered with hair and makeup. Allison’s stunning dress with an open back was purchased at Diamonds and Lace Bridal in State College, PA.
Allison and Mike chose to do a first look and it was incredible. Their smiles and love for one another were contagious. Capturing those private moments between the bride and groom is one of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer. When the ceremony began, the two could not wait to walk down the aisle and say “I Do” in front of all their family and friends.
“We remember not being nervous anymore and just being so excited to marry each other.”
The ceremony was short and sweet followed by a joyous cocktail hour. Just as the storm clouds started rolling in, the party moved to the tented reception area where the dancing commenced immediately. No amount of wind or rain was going to dampen this couple's special day! A momentary pause in partying took place for a few wedding traditions. Steve, the father of the bride, gave the first toast of the night, followed by both the maid and matron of honor and the best man. Allison and Steve also shared a heartfelt first dance. Friends and family gathered from all over the country to celebrate the happy couple; From California to New York and many states in between. Allison said, “we felt so loved.”
Just when I thought our evening light was gone with the storms…IT SHOWED UP! With the setting sun peeking through the dark clouds, I pulled the couple away for a few more glorious shots. By the end of the night, everyone was feeling amazing. As the reception wrapped up, the dance floor was still crowded with happy guests and even happier newlyweds.
“The day was perfect and we both felt so amazed that it was our wedding and that it turned out so wonderful.”
